General Questions

How do I prep my home for cleaning?
  1. Open interior doors to the rooms you want your robot to clean.
  2. Your robot will avoid some common household items, such as socks, shirts, and cables, but for best performance and coverage, remove any objects smaller than 4.5" tall.
  3. Add no-go zones to block off areas that you do not want your robot to clean.
How do I create a map of my home?

To clean efficiently, your robot needs to learn the layout of your home. During its first run, called the Explore Run, your robot will generate a map of your space.

To start an Explore Run, make sure the robot is paired with the app, then follow the instructions on the app. Note that the app is set to automatically start an Explore Run after the robot is initially paired.

The time needed to complete an Explore Run varies, based on the size of your home. Once the Explore Run is complete, your robot will return to the base and the app will display a map of your home. If the map accurately represents the layout of your home, select Approve to save the map.

If you are not connected to the app, your robot will create a persistent map of your home on its own. You can edit and refine this map in the SharkClean® app.

How do I keep my robot from getting stuck in tight spaces, under furniture, or on rug corners?

You can block off potential trouble spots by creating no-go zones in the SharkClean® app. For best accuracy, no-go zones should be no smaller than 3 feet by 3 feet.  Do not create no-go zones in front of the base, as it can interfere with the robot's ability to dock properly.

You can add, edit, or delete no-go zones in the Map section of the SharkClean® app.

What should I do if I recently moved the base to a different location?

If you move the base to a new location, your robot may not be able to find its way back. This may affect the robot's ability to return to the base when cleaning is complete. To avoid this, you can delete the robot's map in the app and send the robot on another Explore Run to create a new map.

If you do not use the SharkClean® app to initiate a re-exploration of your home, the robot will have difficulty returning to its base accurately.

What should I do if I recently moved large pieces of furniture or carpets in my home?

For the best cleaning performance, you should delete the robot's map in the app and send the robot on another Explore Run to create a new, more accurate map.

What do the lights on my robot mean?

The LED indicator lights communicate the robot's status, including errors. Please reference the Owner's Guide for the full details.

Can my robot clean at night or in the dark?

Yes. Shark AI Laser Vision is not dependent on ambient lighting and can navigate your home at night or in low-light conditions.

How do I turn off or quiet the voice on my robot?

Your robot is equipped with voice recordings to assist you with any troubleshooting you may need to perform. If you would like to turn off the voice feature, you can do so in the app.

  1. Go to the menu in the top left corner of the app home screen.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select your robot.
  4. Select Notification Volume. You can lower or raise the volume, or completely turn it off by setting the volume level to 0.
Will my robot fall down stairs?

Your robot's cliff sensors will prevent it from falling off ledges. For the cliff sensors to work properly in any mode, all runners, rugs, or carpets must be at least 8 inches away from any stairs or steps. If needed, you can set up a no-go zone in the app to keep your robot away from steps or stairs.

To keep your robot performing optimally, clean the sensors regularly.

How do I send my robot back to its base?

Press the Base button on your robot, and your robot will  navigate back to the base. You can also press the Base button in the SharkClean® app to send your robot home, if the location of the base is saved on the map.

NOTE: Do not pick up your robot if it is running. If you need to pick up your robot, first turn off the power by holding Base button for 5 to 7 seconds.

If the robot has low battery power or no remaining charge, manually place it on the base by sliding it up the ramp, with the Shark logo on the robot facing upside-down.

How long will my robot clean before needing to recharge, and how long does it take to charge?

A typical cleaning cycle lasts for about an hour. This may vary depending on the cleaning mode you are using and the floor type of your home. Your robot can take up to four hours to fully recharge from an empty battery.

Recharge & Resume enables your robot to return to its base to recharge when it reaches low battery charge (under 15%) during a cleaning mission, and still has area left to clean. When docked on the base, the robot recharges until the battery is 100%, and then resumes the cleaning mission. Recharge & Resume is automatically activated on your robot by default, but it can be turned off in the Settings section in the app.

How do I charge my robot?
  1. Make sure the base has power. The LED light on the base will turn green when properly connected to power.
  2. Place the robot on the ramp with the Shark logo facing upside-down and slide it up onto the base. (Sliding it up the ramp helps to ensure that the two metal charging contacts on the back side of the robot are touching the two metal contacts on the base.) When the robot is placed correctly, the base indicator light will pulse green and the robot will begin to charge.
  3. It can take up to four hours for your robot to fully charge from 0% to 100%.

NOTE: Wait 5 seconds (or longer if the battery is depleted) before readjusting the position of the robot on the base, as it may take time for the robot to indicate it is charging. If your robot is still not charging, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe off the sensors and the charging contacts on the back of the robot and the base, then try again.

What is Dirt Detect?

The Dirt Detect feature automatically increases suction power when your robot encounters areas of high debris density. In Dirt Detect mode, your robot will clean the heavy-debris area in a grid pattern.

When Dirt Detect mode activates, the robot indicator lights will flash purple. When the robot finishes its pattern or encounters an obstacle, it will resume normal cleaning behavior.

What is ActiveLift?

With ActiveLift technology, the robot can lift and lower its suspension up to one inch to traverse low-lying obstacles your home, especially high-pile carpets and high thresholds. When ActiveLift is engaged, the robot's orange indicator lights will turn on, the lift motor will activate, and the robot will lift itself over the obstacle, then lower back down.

What is Shark® Odor Neutralizer Technology?

Shark® Odor Neutralizer Technology uses a scented cartridge to mitigate bad odors that might be caused by debris in the base dust bin. This helps maintain a pleasant- smelling home. The odor cartridge is located on top of the dust bin on the auto-empty base.

Is there a printed Owner's Guide?
